Me 30 vs me 34
My jaw dropped today when I looked back through my old photos and saw how bad my skin looked a few years ago. The dark spots, the uneven texture, the redness... it was everywhere.
At that time I was putting RIDICULOUS levels of effort into my skincare routine (serums, toners, masks, the whole 12-step thing) and it clearly wasn't working. My dermatologist suggested to stop everything and try ONLY using a high quality, medical-grade SPF. And WOW what a difference!
Here's what I'm doing now:
- AM: right after i wake up, wash w/ warm water and gently pat dry. apply a generous amount of this SPF like any other moisturizer...(even when it's cloudy or i'm sitting at my desk all day)...then i literally go about my day
- PM: rinse face with water, then same SPF application
That's it. Two steps. Nothing else.
a few things i've learned doing this over the past few years:
- the skincare industry wants you to believe you need 10 products a day. idk where people get the money and time to do this. what a waste
- you need one that actually feels like a moisturizer and disappears into your skin. most SPFs i tried at first felt greasy (white cast, sits on top of your face, etc).
- stay away from botox and laser as long as humanly possible. im not pretending medical-grade spf replaces a dermatologist visit, but don't let the "quick fix" marketing make you ignore what actually works best for your skin long term
here's the SPF i use and love: JACKET Daily Face + Body Moisturizer with SPF 50
The difference has been insane for someone who was skeptical about "one product" routines. My skin looks more even, my dark spots have faded so much people ask if I did something, and it just glows without looking oily.
What a difference daily protection actually makes when you find the right one!!
